Florida’s Greenways and Trails System

Did you know that the Florida Department of Greenways & Trails offers more than 2,000 miles of recreational trails throughout the state for biking and hiking? In fact, the entire east coast of Florida from Key West to the Georgia state line is part of the East Coast Greenway, a 3,000 mile trail system that runs all the way to Calais, ME!

But the east coast is just the start, because 13 distinct trail sections connect the entire state, from the Southernmost Point to Georgia in the north and Alabama in the west. This PDF Map shows all 2,115 miles of trails. You can also link to maps of each individual section HERE.

Florida State Parks also list 9 multi-use trails which generally overlap those above, but there is additional information HERE. Btw, American Trails named Florida “Best Trails State in America!” Of course, there are many other trails for hikers and mountain bikers — Here are even more options:

>Florida Mountain Biking

>Places I’ve Been

>Where-to-Go, by activity and by county.

Please note that there are gaps on some sections of trails. Work is continuing to close them. Link to the Florida Greenways & Trails Foundation for updates. Still, with thousands of existing miles there is a trail near you offering miles of smiles, whether on asphalt or bare earth. Check out the links, then get yourself out there!
