The Econ River Wilderness Area, just a stone’s throw east of UCF‘s main campus, is a beautiful place for a day hike. About 3 miles of trails meander through the 240 acre wilderness, offering a nice variety of habitats. Of course, the Econlockhatchee River is the crown jewel, a designated Outstanding Florida Water.
One of Seminole County’s excellent collection of natural lands, the trails are both well marked and well maintained. This is the younger section of the Econ River, the early stages before it picks up steam in the Little Big Econ State Forest several miles downstream.
As always, pictures tell the story best. Check out the Photo Gallery and/or the slideshow I put together >>
